Mark Liebetreu, O.D.

Dr. Mark Liebetreu is a Board Certified Optometrist at Quigley Eye Specialists in Southwest Florida. Dr. Liebetreu graduated from Ferris State University College of Optometry, furthered his professional experience at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami and trained internationally at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden. I was born and raised in Michigan. After college, I lived in Miami, Sweden, and Kentucky. My wife, also an optometrist, is from Louisville. We have two sons in college, our youngest just starting. I have one brother, a dentist, and a sister who works at the University. My parents reside in Michigan but enjoy visiting us in the cold winter months. My wife has four sisters and when they all get together, I am left wondering how my father-in-law ever survived.

I worked in Sweden for two years as a research assistant and can speak Swedish.

I scuba dive and spearfish and especially enjoy our annual trip to the Florida Keys to catch lobsters. I’ve been told, under duress, that I won’t stop until we catch our limit.

I am an instrument rated private pilot and even built my own amphibious seaplane. I flew the plane multiple times to Michigan and back, landing on many scenic lakes and rivers along the way.

I most enjoy our family vacations to the Florida Keys, Michigan, North Carolina, and the Rocky Mountains. It has been especially gratifying watching our to boys become expert skiers and snowboarders.
