Common Conditions of the Cornea.

Common conditions of the cornea include: Infections that can be caused by bacteria or viruses, Allergy related conditions, dry eye, hereditary conditions, shingles and herpes simplex infections, and scarring as a result of trauma, injury, or complications from previous eye surgeries. What is the Cornea?

The cornea is located on the front of the eye, and is a clear, dome-shaped structure that we use to actually see. Corneas can become damaged in a number of ways including: Degeneration, inflammation, infections, allergies, injury, and inherited diseases and dystrophies. External disease is referring to conditions that affect the eyelids and conjunctiva that affect the functionality of the eyes themselves.
