How Blepharoplasty Works.
This surgical procedure removed excess skin, fat, and muscle from the upper eyelids and also the lower eyelids if necessary. The main goal of surgery is to help you restore your full range of vision. On a cosmetic level, surgery will also improve your appearance so you’ll no longer have to go through life looking tired or aged prematurely.

What should I expect after surgery?
To promote recovery and healing, cold compresses are recommended, as well as keeping your head elevated when you are laying down. Some pain medication can be prescribed depending on the level of your discomfort.
You can expect some swelling and slight bruising after surgery. However, these things will subside as the surgical area heals. For the first week and a half after your surgery, you will want to gently clean the eye area. Eyedrops can also be prescribed in some cases. Your doctor will tell you which activities and places you should be avoiding during the healing process. In 3 to 5 days, permanent stitches will be removed. If self-absorbing stitches were used, no removal will be required.
At Quigley Eye Specialists, your doctor will check in and schedule follow-up appointment to ensure recovery is going smoothly, leaving you with fully restored vision and a more alert, youthful appearance!
